The Villages of Columbia presented the fifth annual Columbia Home Tour on Sunday, June 1, 2014, from 11am – 5pm.

With a tour guide book and map, participants embarked on a self-guided tour of five distinct homes throughout the Columbia villages. Docents welcomed participants at each location and guided them through the home. All ticket holders were invited to visit Amherst House in Kings Contrivance for light refreshments and displays by Columbia Archives and Rebuilding Together Howard County.

The Columbia Home Tour provides an interesting perspective on what facets of architecture in Columbia endure and what change to reflect the needs and style of today’s residents. It also offers a rare opportunity to view the interior layouts of many familiar Columbia home models. This year’s featured homes included: a Vantage House penthouse in Town Center; a transitional 2-story on the golf course in Harper’s Choice; a modern rancher in Oakland Mills; a traditional 2-story in Owen Brown; and a California contemporary in Harper’s Choice.

Proceeds from The Columbia Home Tour benefited a local charity, Rebuilding Together Howard County. The Columbia Home Tour is sponsored by the Villages of Columbia and Columbia Archives.
