News & Events

As the temperatures drop across Howard County, we encourage you to think of your neighbors in need. The mission of Rebuilding Together is a safe and healthy home for each person. This mission becomes increasingly more difficult to achieve as the winter months approach. That’s why we have created our Urgent Repair Program.

What is the Urgent Repair Program?

The Urgent Repair Program was created for emergency home repairs that cannot wait for a formal project day or National Rebuilding Day. Emergency home repairs are classified as repairs that need to be made in order to keep the homeowner safe, warm and dry.

What are examples of Urgent Repairs?

Below are repairs that qualified for our urgent repair program and that we were able to complete for homeowners:

  • Replaced furnace blower motor in a mobile home for homeowner who is quite ill.
  • Repaired leaking roof and carport which had partially collapsed for elderly homeowner.
  • Replaced leaking hot water heater for low-income family with children living in a mobile home.
  • Repaired leaking sink and installed garbage disposal for elderly homeowner.

Who completes the repairs?

We have a team of dedicated and skilled volunteers who are ‘on-call’ in order to complete an array of repairs on short notice. This team meets regularly with our staff and board members to complete inspections and plan repair jobs. We are so thankful for our urgent repair program volunteers who help our organization and community year-round.

How can I support the Urgent Repair Program?

You can support our urgent repair program by making a personal donation online or by getting your company involved as a corporate donor. Unfortunately, when the funds run out of our urgent repair program, we can no longer complete these vital repairs. We need you to help to continue this amazing program throughout the year.

Where do I apply for the Urgent Repair Program?

Fill out our homeowner application to apply for the urgent repair program. A representative from Rebuilding Together Howard County will reach out to applicants that qualify.
